Recycle Exchange Material Program

University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, 30 Sept 2015 – The main goal of this Recycle Exchange Material program is to provide an opportunity for UNMC students, staffs and lectures to recycle the things such as aluminum cans, used papers and electronic appliances. In return, they are able to earn money in terms of exchanging recyclable items. The mission for this event is to increase awareness of the importance of recycle and saving the nature by encouraging students, staffs and lectures to recycle, reduce waste and instill knowledge of what kind of items can be recycled. It can be seen the responsiveness is great from students, staffs and lectures towards this event. Most students brought papers, old CDs and computer monitors to recycle. Moreover, we are appreciate to those students who are willing to donor out the money collected from this program to Nature Club.
This was the first event organized by Nature Club in the academic year 2015/16. This event can be deemed successful as most of the students are aware of the importance of recycling. The event started at 12 noon on 30th September 2015 (Wednesday) and ended at 3pm. The person-in-charge of weighing and paying, Mr. Vincent from iCycle was also there to assist. Items such as computer monitors, used and old CDs, used papers, aluminium cans, glass bottles and cardboards have been recycled. Some donors have decided not to receive any money. The three-hour event went smoothly and 137.25 kg of recyclables were successfully collected from staffs and students.
Throughout this event, overall we had achieved our mission. The committees have gained experiences in different aspects in this event as we worked together as a team to plan the whole recycling material exchange program, to promote the event and increase the significance of recycle to our environment among the UNMC community.
